Mark McLaughlin: Words that Inspire Me

We interviewed Mark McLaughlin about the words that inspire him.  Mark writes for a number of different readers.  We found Mark's work via Boomerful.com, for Baby Boomer women.  Mark writes for magazines, clients and recently had an article featured in Toastmaster Magazine.

Favorite Quote:

"This quote is so true!  We often admire rich people, but are they any happier than a person with less money in a loving relationship? Over the years I have known quite a few rich people who were unloved and quite miserable."

Favorite Book:

"A WRINKLE IN TIME by Madeleine L'Engle, because the evil creature IT is conquered by love. I first read that book as a child, and I have re-read it many times since. Each time I read it, I find some new and interesting meaning in this fascinating literary classic."

Interview: Lylah M. Alphonse from "Work It Mom"

This week we were lucky enough to talk to Lylah M. Alphonse.  Lylah is the Managing Editor of Work It, Mom.  Work It, Mom is one of the most well-known online communities for mothers and we wanted to know words inspire Lylah:

Favorite Quote?
 
"My favorite quote is 'It's amazing what you can do if you don't know you can't do it.' I'm not sure who said it -- it may be a combination of things I've heard over the years -- but it's proven to be true for me many, many times!"
 
Favorite Book?
"I think my all-time favorite book, the one that's lived with me everywhere I've gone, is 'A Wrinkle in Time' by Madeline L'Engle. All of her books in that series, actually. I know it's children's literature, but the ideas in it -- the constant battle between good and evil, having to consciously choose good over evil, the importance and personal nature of faith, acceptance of yourself and others, perserverance -- keep me coming back often, even as an adult."

Beth Ann Visceglia from Love Eloise was nice enough to share a little about the words that inspire her.

Favorite Quote

" I love this quote because I often get caught up in trying to have and do it all and then I remember that I am the only one who can set the standards for myself. I don't have to meet anyone's expectations other than my own. It's easier said than done."
Favorite Book
"It's so hard for me to pick just one since I'm a big bookworm but I would have to narrow it down to Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger or The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. If I were reading Catcher in the Rye for the first time right now, I think I would probably hate it. But I read it cover to cover one night when I was fifteen and the story is still very vivid to me. I don't know why.  As for Fitzgerald, his stories are so beautifully tragic and romantic that I can't help but fall in love with almost all of his writings. These choices make me a giant cliche, ha. Sue me."
